Skill and Ability Education has partnered with multiple Big Lots locations in Southeast Michigan, including the Ypsilanti Big Lots store. The partnership has spanned several years, back to when the Ypsilanti store was located in Roundtree Place Shopping Center. Over the years, Skill and Ability clients have completed short-term work experiences, both individually and in small groups, as well as several clients being hired on directly by Big Lots for permanent, part-time employment. At Big Lots, participants complete a variety of entry-level tasks while building their skills for working in a retail setting and beyond. Some tasks include helping to maintain an organized store, stocking shelves with new inventory, tagging individual items and labeling shelves, light cleaning tasks throughout the store, and customer service opportunities. Throughout the years, Big Lots has maintained a managerial team that is always ready and willing to welcome the next Skill and Ability client
