OUR STORY
Co-Founders: Amy Berg and Steve Berg
As a former school social worker and special education teacher, we founded Skill & Ability Education to support individuals in highlighting their unique skills and abilities, while also providing education to promote independence.
Prior to Skill & Ability Education, Amy worked as a school social worker in Huron Valley Public Schools and Whitmore Lake Public Schools. Amy also worked for Chicago Public Schools as well as a Community Mental Health agency. She earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago in 2012.
As a Special Educator, Steve taught life skills at Drew Transition Center in Detroit and Ypsilanti Community Schools. He also taught at Southside Occupational Academy in Chicago Public Schools. Prior to teaching, he supported individuals with developmental disabilities in learning independent living skills at Misercordia Heart of Mercy Home. He earned his Master of Arts in Teaching in 2012.
When we aren't working, we enjoy spending time outdoors with our three sons, traveling, playing and watching sports!
We believe in a person-centered approach that recognizes strengths while providing the supports necessary to achieve success.
