TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Program Manager: Star Jenkins
Star started with Skill and Ability in March of 2024 in a Vocational Support role and has continued to grow into a Program Manager. Born and raised in Ypsilanti, Star graduated from Willow Run High School and Eastern Michigan University. Her career path started as a Youth Specialist working with at risk youth in an all girl residential facility. From there, she transitioned to working for an agency that provided foster care and adoption services to children and families involved with the state of Michigan's foster care system. She wore many hats in her previous role, but her favorite was helping to create families through the process of adoption. After 18 years of working with children and families involved in the foster care system, Star decided that it was time for a change and began working with Skill and Ability Education, which has brought much joy into her life.
Outside of work, Star enjoys spending time with her two sons and extended family. She loves Marvel movies and she and her siblings typically buy out rows at the movie theater on opening weekends so that family and friends can join in the fun.
